External Services

To carry out its responsibilities abroad, the MFACC has the following external services: a) Embassies; b) Permanent and temporary missions and representations; c) Consular posts.

Without prejudice to special functions that may be assigned to these representations, their main functions are:

• Represent São Tomé and Príncipe before other states and international organizations;
• Protect the interests of the State and Santomean citizens within the limits established by international law;
• Conduct negotiations with states and represented organizations;
• Report on the prevailing situation in the states and represented organizations;
• Promote cooperative relations with states and international organizations.
